Review: Shield CQS – 1MOA – Red Dot Sight

Finally got around to doing another review. Todays video review is for the Shield CQS, 1MOA, red dot sight. There’s not a huge amount of info to talk about in this review as I found very little wrong with this red dot but you can see it up close and in action.  Take a look below the video to see the specifications of the Shield CQS.  By the way excuse the mess on my table, I have been very busy and didn’t have a chance to clean up as much as I would like. The Shield Close Quarter Sight (CQS) is a compact, lightweight ruggedized reflex sight designed for rapid target acquisition at close combat distances. The CQS was developed from the Shield Mini Sight in order to provide a completely enclosed reflex sight capable of operating under the harshest military environmental conditions. The CQS is combat proven with over 45,000 units in use by the British military.

The CQS sight is manufactured in the UK using hard anodised aluminum construction. Smaller and lighter than the competition, at just 66 grams and just 2” x 1.5” x 1.2” in size, the CQS is a versatile sight optimal for a variety of uses including: pistol sights, offset rifle mounts, in conjunction with magnified optics and scopes and as a primary optic on compact rifles, carbines and shotguns. The CQS features automatic adjustment for ambient light conditions and advanced circuitry that allows for a 1 year battery life. In order to minimise the visual signature, the CQS is designed without a red reflective filter on the lens.

The CQS is designed to be extremely streamlined in that it has no protruding body parts (battery compartments, MOA zeroing adjustment rings, hoods, etc) that can get in the way when slings, harnesses, fast ropes etc. gear are used or can grapple to any other environmental elements i.e. vegetation. A range of spacer heights are available so that you can adjust the height of the red dot, for example to co-witness with iron sights or align with an in-line 3x magnifier. Available with 4 different reticle options including 65 MOA ring with 1 MOA center dot, 1 MOA dot, 8 MOA dot and 4 MOA dot.

Comes with variable height picatinny mount, dust cover, battery, and manual.
