Israel Weapons Industries Tavor X95 Coming to Canada

IWI Tavor X95 Canada

IWI Tavor X95 Canada

Now this is what I have been waiting for!  I passed up on buying a Tavor last year as I suspected that the X95 was coming to Canada and that proved to be a good choice.  Not saying the Tavor currently on the Canadian market is bad, but this seems so much better!  Please read on to find out more details.

RAMAT HASHARON, Israel:  Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) – a leader in the production of combat-proven small arms for law enforcement agencies, governments, and armies around the world – will market its TAVOR X95 Bullpup Rifle in Canada starting from the first quarter of 2017.

According to Shlomi Sabag, IWI’s CEO, “After years of activity in the Canadian market and the successful sale of the TAVOR rifle and the JERICHO pistol, the company is proud to launch its cutting-edge TAVOR X95 rifle in this market. Deployed by the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and many other armies throughout the world, the TAVOR X95 is one of the most advanced bullpup rifles available, combining long barrel with compact dimensions, to provide high accuracy with enhanced maneuverability.”

Based on the US model, the Canadian TAVOR X95 will be adapted to Canadian laws, with an 18.6 inch barrel. The rifle will be manufactured and assembled in Israel on the same production line used for the US market, and will therefore carry the “IWI US” markings.

It will be exported directly from Israel to Canada, and, like the TAVOR, will be classified in Canada as non-restricted.

Recently selected as the 2017 “Shooting Illustrated” Rifle of the Year, the TAVOR X95 will be offered in two calibers – 5.56mm and 9mm – with a 9mm conversion kit also available for purchase. The TAVOR X95 platform incorporates a tri-rail forearm covered by three removable vented rail covers. The TAVOR-style grip is modular and can be easily converted to a more conventional AR type.

The charging handle has also been relocated closer to the shooter’s center mass, and unlike the TAVOR, the ambidextrous magazine release is located in a similar AR-15 location on the TAVOR X95. Available in Black, FDE, and OD Green, the TAVOR X95 features a lightweight trigger pull, weighing around 3 kilos.

The rifle can be purchased with compatible sights from Meprolight – either the MEPRO M21 Day/Night Self-Illuminated Reflex Sight or the MEPRO RDS or RDS PRO (M5) Electronic Weapon Red Dot Sight.
