I read the article below today and was impressed and excited to see that the CCFR is letting people know where the money is going and that they are following threw with their goals. I think this is a great step forward. The $120,000 in the world of advertising is not huge but if spent in the right ways will reach a ton of Canadians. Not to mention the CCFR is a young organization so I think thats a large chunk of change for them to be spend.
Below is the original post from our friends at the thegunblog.ca – they have some great posts and info over there.
The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights said it’s spending $120,000 through June on an “unprecedented” campaign to advance the rights of shooters as the government prepares more restrictive laws.
The group, the youngest of Canada’s three main gun-rights associations, produced the first (superb!) video in a series in December and will publish a new one every 7 to 10 days starting in late March, President Rod Giltaca said today in an e-mail update. They will play in “paid social media advertising,” he said.
“This is a completely unprecedented program and will reach more non-gun owning Canadians than ever before,” Giltaca said in the e-mail. “It will also show politicians that deceptive justification for ineffective and prejudicial regulation will not go unchallenged.”
Canada’s firearms laws are complex, confusing and costly, and do little or nothing to prevent crime or terrorism. The Liberal-led government has pledged more paperwork and restrictions on the country’s estimated 6 million shooters, of which more than 2 million have police-issued licences to own firearms.
