Quick History of the AK-47 Rifle

Have you ever wondered where the AK-47 rifle came from? The name for this infamous rifle comes from the Russian words Avtomat Kalashnikov, which showcases its automatic firing abilities, as well as honouring its famous designer. The number 47 is the year of 1947 when the trials for an automatic rifle started. It’s considered to be one of the best rifles in history.

The rifle you know today isn’t the original design; it’s a concept from a few different ideas. The trigger, rotating bolt, safety, and blowback gas driven action are all taken from other types of firearms. These features where transferred into another firearm that combined all the benefits these offered with a platform that provided low costs to manufacture and durability. The Designer

Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov, who created the Ak-47, was born in the year 1919 and went on to become a lieutenant in the Soviet Army. He is one of the most famous firearm designers in history. The design he created started in 1941 and 1942 but never did catch eyes of those who mattered until the year 1947. His superiors liked his works and reassigned Kalashnikov into the small arms group who designed weapons for the military. Among other engineers, it was here that they developed the infamous AK-47. He continued to work on and improve the design as well as design a family of rifles during his later career. In 2013, he died at the age of 94, but in total created 150 different firearms throughout his lifetime.

The AK-47 is created to withstand crazy weather elements which make it one of the best weapons to take into war and hunting. Many consider the AK-47 one of the most reliable rifles.

The ak-47 is easy to mass produce, and there are or have been different manufacturing countries. Such as China, Russian, Bulgarian, Yugoslavia among others. Private companies in the USA recently have started to manufacture the AK-47

Conclusion

Throughout history, the AK-47 has been one of the best rifles on the market. It has been to war and back and is still to this day one of the most popular rifles on the planet. In Canada the AK-47 is prohibited even though there are semi-automatic AK’s for Civilian use available.
